CAPHE researchers during an ethnological walk in Nairobi

During their stay in Nairobi in November, members of the CAPHE consortium could experience African rain, sudden weather changes, cloud cover and a different appearance of vegetation than in the dry season, which is the season with which the African continent is stereotypically associated. The Jagiellonian University consortium visit began on the 3rd November 2024 at the Kenyatta University campus on Thika Road, on the outskirts of Nairobi (10 kilometers from the center) – the capital of Kenya, located on a plateau inland. According to the work schedule, which included training, workshops, study visits and networking, the leader of the Jagiellonian University consortium focused on anthropological research. Ethnographic activities were conducted in sync with training organized on campus with the participation of academic staff and students. Dr. Anna Romanowicz from the Institute of Ethnography and Cultural Anthropology of the Jagiellonian University organized ethnographic walks and established fruitful contacts with various actors of Nairobi’s social environment. One of the trips took place in the city center.
